Personas

John is a weather station customer, traveler, and technology enthusiast.

In his 30's, John lives and works in the city as a middle-class citizen. He loves tinkering with new technology, like when he set up a smart home system for his house. He also engages in many types of outdoor activities including biking, hiking, skiing, and surfing.

He checks current and historic weather patterns out of curiosity to pass time and to prepare for his occasional trips. He also finds the relationship between weather visuals and numeric data interesting.

He purchased a climate node for his house as well as his parents' in another state, which he occasionally checks out of curiosity for 'what it's like over there'. He likes to stay aware of any extreme weather and anomalies for himself and his loved ones.

‍Sarah is a user, busy mother, and corporate employee.

In her early 30's, Sarah is married, mother to two young kids in elementary school, and upper middle-class citizen in a Bay Area suburb. To Sarah, the health of her children and control over her busy day-to-day life is of utmost importance. In order to stay on top of her game, her routine, self-control, and resilience are high on her list of priorities.

Sarah checks the weather in order to prepare herself and her family for anything the weather may throw at them during the full day ahead. Because she is limited on time, she uses the weather photos and videos alongside the weather data to more quickly understand what the weather is and will be.

Sometimes in the evening while spending time with her kids, she shares the timelapse video recording of the day to help them better understand technology, weather science, and nature appreciation. She also shares any unexpected weather patterns to help out her equally-busy friends.
